Frequently Asked Questions

I have been asked many questions over the last couple months as I've campaigned to be your Mayor in Helena. Some questions have been asked multiple times, so I created this centralized location to give answers. It is my hope that this information will provide you an understanding of where I come from and what I stand for. If you have questions, please let me know.  I always have an open door. Are you a politician and if you win will this just be a step to another office?

My defining traits include I am a dad, a husband, and a business leader. According to Merriam-Webster a “politician” is a person experienced in the art or science of government especially one actively engaged in conducting the business of a government. Based on that definition I am the only candidate for Mayor with the experience of our local government and am actively engaged in the business of Helena government.

My passion and heart is Helena, and I have no intentions of seeking any other role outside of this community. The role of Mayor is not a stepping stone for me and will never be treated as such.  I am committed to Helena and making it the best city it can be for years to come.

What makes you the best choice for Mayor?

Experience.  I think it is that simple. I am the only candidate that has experience within Helena city government and the employees with my time on Helena City Council, Place 2. I am the only candidate that has experience in recent years getting hands dirty volunteering in Helena. I am the only candidate who brings a business background to the role of Mayor through my educational background and my leadership experience at the Bank.

Will you defund the Police?

Absolutely NOT! Our Helena Police do an amazing job day in and day out.  Our police need to be afforded the resources they need to be able to provide the best service possible to all residents and visitors of Helena.

Will you continue working at your current employor after being elected Mayor?

I will turn in my letter of resignation right after the election, if I win.  I feel that our town deserves a full time Mayor that will work around the clock for the betterment of Helena. Our city has progressed drastically over the last few years, and we all deserve someone that will devote all of their time to the job.

How will you support our schools?

Most people, including myself, love Helena because of the schools that we are blessed to have. I have kids in our elementary, intermediate, and middle school, so to say that I have a vested interest in this is an understatement. Currently, Helena has the one cent fund to help provide resources to our schools, but I feel we must do more than just that.  I will advocate for our schools on a regular basis with Shelby County Board of Education.  I will look for ways to expedite expansions at our schools that are past capacity.  We have to be an active partner as a city with SCBE and provide assistance to them in ways that have not been done before. Not only do we have to be that active partner with SCBE, but it will be my responsibility to have strong relationships with all of the administration of the schools.  They have to always know that no matter what  the city leadership will do everything possible to assist. I recognize that our teachers go above and beyond for our kids each and every day and the city need to support them in every way possible.  I want to work with the schools to help in any way I can in all areas of extracurricular activities from athletics, band, arts and theater, and beyond.  These types of activities bring out the best in out kids today and prepares them for the future.
